UID Management is a Web based software application that operates either in conjunction with UID Procurement in a production environment or can be deployed separately in or downstream from production in for example a distribution center. It operates on a designed work flow management concept, which provides complete flexibility in customization to varying industry or customer operations scenarios. Literally any work flow or business process can be mirrored including product receipt, inventory, pick and pack and shipment from a brand owner's distribution center or a third party location.

UID Management communicates with the central data repository either in real time or operates in a disconnected mode using Publisher Subscriber to update the data repository on an ad hoc, automatic or scheduled basis.

UID Management also operates on intelligent handheld scanning devices for wireless use in remote locations with our without Internet access (available Q1 2010), e.g. third party wholesale or retail, production fields etc.

The following graphic depicts the forms of data transfer from the central data repository to various print, production and distribution locations and the activities therein enabled by VB Enterprise UID Management.

UID Management includes the following functionality:

• Controlled access and use via user name and password and administered roles.
• Provides secure Internet communication with data repository utilizing secure Web services.
• Creation of parent-child packaging relationships, e.g. unit to case to pallet.
• Disaggregation and re-aggregation of parent-child relationships.
• The input or import (e.g. from WMS system) of additional data.
• Revision to a UID status, e.g. from inactive to active, quarantined, inventory, returned, etc.
• Work flow management and UID tracking of products or their components, e.g. raw materials, labels or tax stamps prior to manufacturing of or application to a product.
• Reporting that supports the cataloguing of all system use and for monitoring activity downstream from production for regulatory compliance.

UID Management functionality can be deployed as a full suite or on a select component basis. Customization is achieved by administered role assignments, work flow customization and selected business rules. UID Management can also integrate with third party printing equipment and software control systems in a production or distribution environment and is fully compatible with standard barcode and RFID reading devises.
