VB Enterprise UID Procurement is a Web based set of software functionality that connected with central and secure data management enables secure procurement and distribution of pre-defined product UID's, input, association of relevant product information, creation of parent-child packaging relationships and return of all generated data to the customers dedicated central database.

• VB Enterprise UID Procurement is installed on the customer's dedicated SQL 2008 database located at the central data repository.
• Third party label, stamp or carton manufacturing facilities or brand owner or contract production locations log in to UID Procurement via Web browser and via secure Internet communications (using digital certificates) to make requests for UID's and receive back (ad hoc or automatically replenished) generated UID's directly to a local dedicated production or print server, via Web Services, file transfer or publisher subscriber.

The following graphic depicts the forms of data transfer from the central data repository to various print locations and the activities therein enabled by VB Enterprise UID Procurement.

• Access to UID Procurement is strictly limited by User Name and Password and security is further enabled as necessary through segmenting functions inside the application though role-based user administration.
• Communications to and from the central data repository are secured using digital certificates so that all interaction with the database are logged, monitored, reported and audited. Verify Brand Customer Service monitors all activity and evidence of unauthorized activity is immediately reported to the customer.

• UID requests can be made and UID's received on a batch/ad hoc basis, bulk unassociated (to any production run) or via automated replenishment.
• UID Procurement also enables print/production facilities to input any type or amount of product or other data to be associated with UID's and stored in the central data repository.
• Label, stamp or product profiles are pre-configured to simplify printing and allow varied UID structures and data association.
• At the end of the secure serialization process the central data repository has received and is securely storing electronic records created for each individual product and level of packaging including a UID and whatever type and amount of associated data. Used UID's and related data are simultaneously deleted from the local Production Server.
• All electronic records are available for export to an ePedigree supplier, ERP system or later authentication, logistics and tracing.
• One VB Enterprise UID Procurement installation and one Production server can facilitate networked secure serialization on multiple production or printing lines in one facility.

Verify Brands approach is to be agnostic to all aspects of deploying a serialization system in terms of UID structure, UID carriage, i.e. human or machine readable, form and type of printing, location and the type of data to be input and associated with UID's placed on products including integration with third party printing/inspection manufacturing and integration suppliers. The ultimate goal is to create and manage item level and unique product records in a central data repository ubiquitously and easily available for later use. How this is done is dependent upon what is best for the customer and their objectives for the system.
